Cyberoam is a good product solving most of our Internet security issues. Thus, proving itself to be worth recommendation

Mr. Surya Chandra Raju Mudunuri
IT Manager
Said Salim Bakhresa & Co Ltd.

Mr. Surya Chandra Raju Mudunuri, the IT Manager at Bakhresa Group mentioned, “Being devoid of a UTM solution, we were unable to control the misuse of Internet and secure our network completely.”

The Internet issues faced were:

Perilous Network Periphery

The network of SSB was open to vulnerable attacks like DoS, DDoS and other network threats. Therefore, if the network was infected by any of these threats it would lead to data leakage, file corruption and even serious network downtime. Hence, protecting the unsecured network was a subject of concern for Mr. Mudunuri.

Excessive and Unproductive Internet Usage

Mr. Mudunuri wanted to prevent his employees from getting distracted by unproductive websites like social networking sites, music and such other entertainment-related websites. He said, “We have known that many employees get diverted from their tasks”. As a result work suffered. Also, sometimes employees unknowingly landed on malicious websites by surfing or downloading malware-laden applications which represented an additional coating of threat. Moreover, due to these activities deficiency of bandwidth was observed making legitimate applications almost inaccessible. Hence, productivity and bandwidth both were immensely hampered.

Lack of VPN Connectivity between the Offices

Mr. Mudunuri said, “There was no VPN solution that could connect our remote offices with the Head Office. As a result, the resources at the Head Office could not be accessed. Moreover, often our inter-office communications were solely dependent on long distance telephone calls which we re very expensive. Hence we faced many complications, holding back our business benefits.”

No Traffic Sharing Facility

One of the biggest challenges faced by the company was to ensure constant availability of their organization’s network and data. Mr. Mudunuri stated, “Due to the unavailability of ISP infrastructure, we depended on multiple connections which lacked load balancing. Hence, if a single connection went down we suffered great losses. Our transactions and communication through that particular connection were badly affected.”

The Cyberoam Solution

SSB searched the market for a solution that could provide them with uninterrupted and secured Internet connectivity. During their search, they found all their solutions in Cyberoam. They purchased Fourteen (14) Appliances which includes, CR500ia, CR200iNG , CR100ia, CR25ia and CR15wi. They deployed them at Dar es Salaam(Tanzania), Zanzibar, Uganda, Rwanda, Malawi, Burundi and Mozambique in Gateway Mode. The positive outcomes noticed are:

Moreover its Identity-based control helps Mr. Mudunuri to create and assign schedules, policies and level of access to users based on their designation and role for surfing the web. In addition, HTTPS scanning controls unauthorized secure access, thereby preventing unauthorized download, upload and data leakage. Mr. Mudunuri said, “Using Cyberoam’s Web and Application Filtering solution has enabled us to create custom policies and assign them to each one accordingly”.

Cyberoam’s VPN bridges the geographical distances between the head office, remote user, and the branch offices. It ensures se cure connectivity in a way that no invader can intervene with the data by any means. Thus, resources like ERP and Administrative Resources can be now easily and securely accessed by the officials of the organization. Moreover, its VPN connection failover feature offers continuous connectivity for IPSec connections across multiple ISP gateways. Mr. Mudunuri said, “With the help of IPSec VPN, Cyberoam has improved our communication and increased operational efficiencies of the organization”.

  • Non-Stop and Efficient Internet Traffic Load Sharing

Cyberoam’s Multiple Link Management solution, wisely distributes the Internet traffic between the two ISP links ensuring its optimum utilization. It also enables Mr. Mudunuri to assign weights to each ISP links such that the traffic load is distributed accordingly. Moreover, the Multi-Link Manager keeps track of the links. If any of the link goes down the load is automatically transferred to the working link, leading to non-stop Internet accessibility. Mr. Mudunuri said, “In our organization multiple ISP links are load balanced assuring guaranteed service availability”. He further added, “Now when one link fails, the second link takes over the Interne t traffic immediately, ensuring efficient business continuity and easy lo ad balancing”.
