Network security and constant Internet connectivity is placed quite high up in our list of priorities.
Mr. Mark Johnston
IT and System Engineer
“We use Internet for transfer of medical data and communications. Hence, network
security and constant Internet connectivity is placed quite high up in our list of
priorities”, said Mr. Mark Johnston, IT and System Engineer at CMSAC. According to
Mark, they faced the following security issues.
Unrestricted Access to Social Networking
“One of the major problems we faced was wide use of social networking by employees at work”, said Mark. This had an adverse effect on employee productivity. Had there been some restrictions in place, the time that employees spent on social networking and other unproductive sites could otherwise be put to much better use. Also, Mark wanted to block access to any adult, illegitimate or harmful websites that employees tend to “stumble upon accidentally”.
The threat of malware attacks from viruses, worms, Trojans, etc. kept the CMSAC IT team on their toes. These attacks could culminate into corrupt files, defaced web pages, loss of critical data and system crashes resulting in downtime. Any such kind of an attack would cost CMSAC money, effort, man-hours and, in some cases, even their reputation.
The Cyberoam Solution
Having had a prior good experience with Cyberoam, Mark straightaway decided to employ Cyberoam to deal with the CMSAC‘s Internet security issues. They bought One (1) CR 50ia which is deployed in Gateway Mode at their Data Center.
After Cyberoam deployment, the following benefits were noticed.
