Internet is our primary means for customer communications
Mr. Abdul Samad Yoonus
Assistant Manager (ICT)
Al Dhaen Group
“Internet is our primary means for customer communications”, said Mr. Abdul Samad Yoonus, Assistant Manager (ICT) for Al Dhaen Group. They maintain a high-traffic website that is accessed by customers far and wide. Furthermore, Internet is used for online payments as well as other work-related purposes by employees. However, the Al Dhaen network suffered from the following network-related problems.
Bandwidth Issues: Unmanaged VoIP Calls
“Most of our intra-office, inter-office and customer communications is done via VoIP. The burden falls upon our Internet connections to provide safe and quality communications”, said Mr. Yoonus. The VoIP calls occupied most of their available bandwidth, leaving little room for other Internet-related tasks. Also, because bandwidth was not well-managed, the quality of calls also deteriorated during peak hours.
Unreliable Inter-office Connectivity
Communication between the Head office and Branch Offices relies primarily on VPN connections. Mr. Yoonus wanted to have the highest degree of safety and reliability for all communications because business continuity depends on it.
The Cyberoam Solution
After analysis of various network security solutions in the market, Mr. Yoonus zeroed in on Cyberoam, considering it to be the best fit for his requirements. They purchased One (1) CR 25ia for their Head Office in Sitra (Bahrain) and Two (2) CR 15i for their Branch Offices in Arad (Bahrain) and Qatar. All Appliances are deployed in Bridge Mode.
- Network Perimeter Safeguarded
Cyberoam solved Al Dhaen’s earlier issues with bandwidth scarcity that was caused by extensive VoIP calls. Its Bandwidth Management feature allows Mr. Yoonus to prioritize bandwidth for business-critical applications. Hence, business applications and VoIP calls are separately allotted required bandwidth such that both don’t come in each other’s way. On the other hand, Mr. Yoonus is able to control the bandwidth consumed by non-work-related applications, such that they don’t unnecessarily gobble up precious bandwidth that should otherwise be used for productive work.
- Efficiently Managed Bandwidth
Cyberoam's gateway anti-virus solution watches over the Web and mail traffic. All traffic, including HTTP, HTTPS and FTP and mail traffic over SMTP, IMAP and POP3, is scanned for malware and sanitised. All compressed files are decompressed and checked for any hidden malware. This level of all-round anti-virus security prevents virus, worms, spyware, Trojan and other malware outbreaks and translates into fewer housekeeping calls to company’s IT department.
- Inter-Office Connectivity
Cyberoam’s VPN connectivity ensures secure connection between the Head and Branch Offices. Branch Office users seamlessly access the network without any worries of breakdown in Internet traffic. Threat-free Tunneling (TFT)-driven VPN ensures that all such traffic is securely encrypted and no malware sneaks through it.
- Network Made Easy to Manage
The functionalities provided by Cyberoam are easy to understand and implement. It gives Mr. Yoonus a central view of the entire network, and makes it very simple and easy to manage it. “As compared to our previous Cisco solution that required a very high level of expertise, Cyberoam seems like a piece of cake”, said Mr. Yoonus. Also, Cyberoam’s state-of-the-art GUI leverages Web 2.0 technology to minimize security errors and simplify navigation. It is aimed at removing the clutter from managing Unified Threat Management (UTM) appliances.
“We are quite pleased with Cyberoam’s performance. It gives us complete ROI. Further I would like to mention here that Cyberoam’s after-sales support is also fantastic”, said Mr. Yoonus.
