Cyberoam Security Appliances Introduce High Availability
The Cyberoam Version Release 9.4.0.0 features High Availability, DDNS and Custom Signature Support for IPS among a host of features

New Jersey, USA – 29 November, 2006

Elitecore, the makers of Identity-based Unified Threat Management (UTM) appliances, today announced a version release for their Cyberoam range of integrated security appliances. With the new ‘High Availability’ feature inbuilt in the current range of security appliances, Cyberoam ensures that its enterprises operate under continuous security while enjoying efficient access to critical information, applications and services. In addition, the version offers greater granularity and flexibility.

The 9.4.0.0 version of Cyberoam addresses the security concerns related to device failures as a result of integrating the security solutions into one unified appliance.

Talking about the latest version release, Harish Chib, VP Marketing, Cyberoam, said “Continuous connectivity and security is paramount to a client in today’s scenario. Version 9.4.0.0 of Cyberoam has been launched to stop enterprises from suffering crippling security and connectivity failures in the future.” He added, “In addition this, the new version comes equipped with Dynamic DNS (DDNS) and Custom Signature Support for IPS which will offer higher levels of security and greater granularity to our clients.”

High Availability involves the deployment of two Cyberoam appliances in active-passive mode, with master and slave appliances. On failure of the master for any reason, the slave takes over, ensuring continuous security.

Cyberoam DDNS service is of critical need to enterprises functioning without a static IP address through hosted web servers. Of particular use in cases of DSL and broadband connectivity as in the middle-east and increasingly so in India, DDNS ensures that external-interfacing resources like websites, mail servers can be reached by the external world despite dynamic IPs.

Introduction of custom signature in Cyberoam Intrusion Prevention System (IPS) builds high levels of granularity in the Cyberoam security appliance, allowing enterprises to create their own signatures instantly for emerging threats. In the beta release, enterprises have benefited from blocking chat IDs of external users, https sites like Orkut, Trojan messages coming via Yahoo Messenger and more.

In addition, the version has included three web categories - Active X, Applets and Cookies – to WebCat, its web categorization engine, offering greater control in containing security breaches. The version also includes RADIUS authentication, FTP scanning for Anti-Virus for incoming and outgoing mail traffic, as well as SMTP authentication among other features.

Cyberoam’ comprehensive security protects enterprises from Internet threats, including spyware, phishing, pharming, viruses, worms, Trojans and more. Cyberoam appliances offer the complete set of security features - Firewall-VPN, Anti-virus, Anti-spam, Intrusion Prevention System, Content Filtering in addition to Bandwidth Management and Multiple Link Management over a single platform.

Cyberoam appliances - CR50i, CR100i, CR250i, CR500i, CR1000i and CR1500i - suit the requirements of small to large enterprises from 50 to 1500 users. Cyberoam offers integrated Internet security to over 1000 enterprises in Asia, USA, Africa and Middle-East.
